TANGER MED PORT TRAFIC FOR THE FIRST SEMESTER 2017

  • Overall Progression of the port complex Tanger Med in the 1st semester 2017
  • The main increases concerned containers traffic + 11% freight traffic +8,6%, Passengers +12% and Renault Melloussa cars +10%

  INCREASING CONTAINERS TRAFFIC

 

Containers traffic registered 1’555’560 TEU (twenty-foot Equivalent units) for the 1st semester 2017, being an increase of +11% compared to the same period in 2016.

This growth is increasing related to the impact of new maritime services since the second half of 2016 at Eurogate’s common user terminal.

PASSENGERS AND ROLL-ON: ROLL-OFF TRAFIC

 

Tanger Med Port Passengers has achieved a traffic of 161’868 trucks and 858 680 passengers, representing an increase of +12% compared to the same period of 2016.

The 2017 Marhaba campaign who have set up on June 5st 2017 registered 120’183 passengers and 49 661 cars at June 30st 2017.

INCREASING NEW VEHICLES TRAFFIC

 

Vehicles traffic registered the processing of 144 293 vehicles from Renault Melloussa factory, representing an increase of +10% compared to the same period 2016.

Nearly, 214 140 vehicles cars have been in both Renault and Common User terminal.

STABLE HYDROCARBONS AND BULK TRAFFIC

Refined products traffic registered 3 618 990 tons during the 1st semester 2017, representing a slight decrease of 3% compared to the same period 2016. Hydrocarbons recorded an increase of imports and bunkering during the first half of the year and a decrease in the transshipment of hydrocarbons.

General cargo traffic amounted to 218’740 tons in the first semester 2017, down 27% due to the drop in the import of cereals in Morocco following the good agricultural season in 2016. This half-year saw a massive import of wind turbine components for the Northern region.

Tanger Med is connected to 174 ports and 74 countries on the 5 continents.
